Maggie's Bones

The culture of the Southern United states often dictates the types and numbers of unwanted dogs and puppies in our local shelters. It is this culture that has relied on domesticated dogs for companionship, hunting, and guarding livestock for many generations.

However, many times in the South when a dog has fulfilled it's purpose, whether for hunting or breeding stock, they are often discarded into local sheters.

Maggie is saddened day in and day out, as her local shelter is a prime example of this unfortunate problem.

It is so important to raise the awareness and implementation of spay/neuter laws, in order to reduce the numbers of unwanted litters in our community.

Southern states have a rich heritage full of culture and history. It is important that we as a community, stand up for our Southern canine companions. There are many resources for low cost spay/neuter in our area. Please see our resources page for additional information.
